Fröbacken café, preparation room and event space

The project aims to reduce the vulnerability of the operation and create a more robust environment by building a weatherproof facility under a roof. By establishing a heated café area and flexible event space, the operation can remain open year-round, offer courses during the winter months, and arrange reliable concerts, markets, and private events regardless of the weather. The new facility also enables food processing of the own harvest and an expanded food offering that meets an important need for local tourism and nearby Bed & Breakfasts.

About the project

The project's goal is to transform the operation into a robust, weatherproof, and vibrant meeting place that can remain open year-round and offer reliable events in the community. By building a new, permanent facility under a roof, the current vulnerability of the operation is reduced, as it has previously been highly weather-dependent and limited to the summer months. The new infrastructure creates entirely new conditions for year-round operations, increased turnover, and a richer cultural offering for both residents and visitors.

One of the project's most central parts is the construction of a heated café and event space under a roof. This facility makes it possible to plan and carry out concerts, courses, and markets completely independent of the weather, eliminating the risk of financial losses due to bad weather. The facility also enables new winter activities such as craft courses, knitting cafés, and seed exchange days, which strengthens the community in the local area during the quieter months.

To meet the needs of local tourism and nearby Bed & Breakfasts, the project enables an expanded food offering. With the new facility, the operation can offer everything from sandwiches and soups to herring lunches and pre-ordered dinners, fulfilling a significant local need as the availability of restaurants in the area is currently limited.

To maximize resource use and strengthen the economy, the facility is adapted for food processing. Here, the summer harvest from the cut flower cultivation and vegetable sales can be utilized through jam-making, pickling, and drying. This extends the sales season and creates new opportunities for local producers and creators to rent the facility for their own markets, weddings, and private events.
