Vänerresurs 2.0

A collaboration project together with the two other Leader areas around Vänern, Leader Närheten and Leader Nordvästra Skaraborg, aimed at creating sustainable development for Vänern's fishing and tourism industry.

About the project

Leader Framtidsbygder collaborates with Leader Närheten and Leader Nordvästra Skaraborg in a joint effort to develop Sweden's and the EU's largest lake Vänern and its fish resource. Together, the three Leader areas have taken over the responsibility for what was previously called Fishing Area Vänern. The focus is on how to strengthen both the fishing industry and local engagement around the lake.

The collaboration project aims to strengthen cooperation between the organizations working with Vänern's fish resource, create clearer roles and better dialogue between authorities, associations, and other actors, support new ideas and projects that contribute to sustainable development around Vänern, and be a link and guide to other funding opportunities when project ideas do not fit within Leader support.

This is a collaboration project with the two other Leader areas around Vänern, Leader Närheten (Karlstad, Hammarö, Grums, Kil, Forshaga, Kristinehamn, Storfors, and Filipstad) and Leader Nordvästra Skaraborg (Essunga, Grästorp, Gullspång, Götene, Karlsborg, Lidköping, Mariestad, Skara, Töreboda, and Vara). Other collaboration partners include Sportfiskarna, fishing water owners, the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), Karlstad University (KAU), Vänern's fishing association Trollingfiskarna in Vänern, Sweden's fishing tourism entrepreneurs, the County Administrative Board of Värmland, the County Administrative Board of Västra Götaland, the Foundation Salmon Fund Vänern, Region Värmland, the Västra Götaland region, the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management, and the Swedish Board of Agriculture.
