Preparatory study: Development of the Örekilsälven River
A pre-study conducted by Munkedal municipality to investigate the possibilities of developing Örekilsälven in connection with the establishment of a nature reserve in the area.
About the project
Örekilsälven became a nature reserve in 2024 due to its high national interest and unique fauna. Atlantic salmon, eel, kingfisher, and other fish and bird species thrive and breed in the area. It also has a large beaver population. In addition, it is a popular outdoor area.
Munkedal municipality has, at the request of private individuals, local associations, and entrepreneurs, wanted to develop the southern part of Örekilsälven to make it more accessible for knowledge-enhancing and leisure-related activities.
How best to proceed to achieve these goals has now been investigated through a pre-study, which has been financed with the help of support from Leader Framtidsbygder.
