Bärfendals Backyard

The project ”Bärfendals Bäckyard” has transformed the area around Bärfendals Hembygdsgård in Dingle into an attractive meeting place for culture, leisure, and outdoor activities. By building a new outdoor stage, creating an accessible walking path along the adjacent stream, and increasing the number of parking spaces, the area's natural and cultural values have been highlighted. The result is a welcoming environment that creates conditions for future events, increased activity, and an active outdoor life in the local area.

About the project

The project has aimed to make the area around Bärfendals Hembygdsgård in Dingle, Munkedal municipality, a vibrant and attractive meeting place for culture, leisure, and outdoor activities. By meeting the needs for modern infrastructure for local events, the project has highlighted the area's unique natural and cultural values, creating entirely new conditions for community and movement in the local area.

One of the project's most central parts has been the construction of a completely new outdoor stage next to the garden and the flowing stream. This stage has made the area a functional arena for cultural events, concerts, and leisure activities that promote engagement and creativity among both residents and visitors, with a particular focus on providing children and young people with new meaningful leisure opportunities.

To make the beautiful surroundings accessible, a new walking path has been created along the stream, inviting exercise, quiz walks, or a moment of relaxation.

To meet the increased activity and the growing number of visitors, the number of parking spaces at the heritage site has also been significantly increased to make visits as smooth as possible. The new parking area has also opened up entirely new opportunities in the area, such as trunk sales, car meets, markets, and parking spaces for tourists.
